To celebrate the tenth anniversary of The Skills Conference, we are pleased to announce we will be hosting our first ever awards show. Whether you are a provider, a teacher, a learner, or anyone involved in education, now is your chance to show us your outstanding, pioneering and innovative work in the development of English and maths skills.

The Skills Awards aims to reward the quality and diversity of educational delivery and achievement in the best educational establishments, along with the most dedicated members of the teaching profession and their learners.

How to enter 

To enter please fill out the form here. Please note that if you are entering for the category: Teacher of the Year or Learner of the Year, you may nominate someone else. All submissions must be a maximum of 500 words and may include any supporting materials that meet the criteria.

The deadline is the 31st January 2018. Winners will be announced during The Skills Conference on March 6th 2018.

Criteria for winners

English and maths skills are vital to the prospects of all individuals for their education, career prospects and day-to-day living.  They are high on the government agenda and have been identified by industry as a key area of importance for those entering work.

The Skills Awards, presented as part of The Skills Conference 2018, will celebrate outstanding, pioneering and innovative work in the development of English and maths skills.

At the inaugural Skills Awards, there will be just 3 categories:

  • Provider of the Year
  • Teacher of the Year
  • Learner of the Year

Provider of the Year

This award will be presented to an education provider (or employer with an education programme) which can demonstrate pioneering innovation, excellence and effectiveness in their English and maths teaching and outcomes.

Teacher of the Year

This award will be presented to a teacher or trainer who has used innovative, creative and effective teaching strategies to support and motivate groups or individual learners towards English and maths skills achievement.

Learner of the Year

This award will be presented to a learner or employee who has undertaken a journey of outstanding development, improvement or achievement in their English and/or maths skills. The winner will have demonstrated hard work and determination to succeed, regardless of their starting ability or background.
