Why are ICT, maths and English skills important in your sector and organisation?

With English being one of the two working languages of the United Nations, it is important that the soldiers from the multi-national task force have a common language, and it has to be English.

Why did you decide to use bksb’s eLearning products?

Students in my class can have a varied skill set and experience. Some of the learners had little or no education while others are higher education graduates. I have found bksbLIVE 2 to be effective as it adapts the course to meet the learners needs.

How do you use bksb with your learners?

As most of the learners are ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) students, I adopt a mix of blended learning. Tutor led presentations and workshops, combined with personal study through bksbLIVE 2.

What impact has it had on your learners?

The programme has been well received and the learners like it as they can work on it in their spare time in the accommodation. Somalia is one of the most hostile places on earth, so the training can be a positive distraction to what is happening as well as advancing their education. The headquarters have reported back on the increase in staff productivity and positivity in their ability to meet the needs of the mission.

How has this helped SKA International?

Statistics cannot be released due to operational confidentiality, but it has reinforced the foothold we had initially made with the training.

Would you recommend bksb to other providers?

Yes, most definitely.
