The cabinet secretary will investigate a party held for “two dozen” employees at the Department for Education during lockdown last December.
DfE permanent secretary Susan Acland-Hood said her department will investigate the earlier meeting held on December 10 at her department.
Williamson delivered a few words to the roughly two dozen people in attendance, many of whom worked in ministers’ private offices.
“I’ve spoken to the cabinet secretary and the gathering that was held will be part of his consideration as part of the investigation that was announced at PMQs,” she said.
In her response, she stated that disciplinary action would be taken against any staff who broke rules. This would include Acland-Hood herself, she said.
