After an incredible performance at the WorldSkills, Europe’s most talented young professionals are once again putting their abilities to the test at the EuroSkills Budapest 2018. It is the European regional version of the WorldSkills Competition in which the UK team won a gold medal for the world’s best young beauty therapist.
The UK team will fly to Hungary to compete in six different sectors including Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Transportation and Logistics and Information and Communication Technology to name a few. The event will take place between 26th and 28th September, with twenty-seven other countries competing, and around 80,000 spectators, including educators and industry experts, expected to attend.
Members of the UK team have come from all over England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Among them are a duo from the car-manufacturing giant Toyota, Jack Dakin, aged 22, and Danny Slator, aged 24, as well as 22 year old chef Nicolle Finnie, who works at the prestigious Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles restaurant in Scotland.
The team will go on to complete an intensive training programme, supported by their training providers and employers, and hope to build upon the team’s previous success at the EuroSkills finals held in 2016 in Gothenburg, where they finished in seventh place by taking home two golds, one silver, two bronze and eight medallions of excellence.
The competitors who take part in the EuroSkills this year will also go on to compete for a place in the team that will represent the UK at the WorldSkills Kazan 2019.
