Adult Education Funding Petition Delivered to Downing Street

Having attracted over 10,000 signatures, a petition to stop further reductions in adult education funding will receive a response from the government. The petition was delivered to Downing Street on Thursday (29 October) by five members of the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA), as well as Chi Onwurah MP.

According to Ms Onwurah, the Shadow Minister for Culture and the Digital Economy, adult education is “essential for our economy and society”. She is supporting the petition because everyone deserves a second chance in education.

In other adult education funding news, recent statistics show that £248m of funding allocated for 24+ advanced learning loans went unclaimed in the last academic year. Applications for the loans also fell by 3,500.
