Important Maths and English Funding Information Released

Funding penalties for organisations who did not comply with funding conditions for English and maths in the 2014/15 academic year have been reduced, the Education Funding Agency (EFA) has announced.

In the last academic year, 97% of FE students aged 16 to 19 without a ‘good pass’ for GCSE English and/or maths continued to study the subjects, which is considered a success. As such, ministers have decided that a 50% funding reduction will be enforced on non-compliant providers, rather than the planned 100% reduction. There will also be a 5% tolerance applied, whereby institutions that have complied with rules for more than 95% of learners (by value) will earn a reprieve. These rules will be implemented for 2016/17 allocations.
