Earlier today it was confirmed that Conservative MP Nick Boles would be taking on a joint role at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Education (DfE).
After much speculation, the 48 year-old confirmed that he would be taking over from Matthew Hancock, who has been made the Minister of State for Business, Enterprise and Energy in the cabinet reshuffle.
The former Planning Minister entered Parliament in 2010 for the Grantham and Stamford constituency, and was a founder and director of the Policy Exchange thinktank.
Speaking to FE Week, he said: “I am absolutely delighted with the appointment. It’s a really crucial role. If we are going to make sure everyone can benefit from the economic recovery we have to make sure they have got the skills they need.”
